2024 Major Pennant Round 2 – Update

Posted on: 12 February

Morning Members,

This week we took on Pymble @Pymble,

Major disruption in selecting our lineup, waiting on TPS results and not knowing who would / would not be available till Friday night.

Unfortunately, Brad Fasher and Justin Hatchett missed the cut in TPS and were no doubt thirsty to saddle up Sunday morning, and lucky they did cos these were our only two points for the day.

Marty led us out, we were hoping to post an early lead but, it was not to be .. his putter was cold probably due to his core temp overheating, and he was forced to wear pants after shrinking his shorts in the dryer the night before. He was looking forward to a big bounce back next week Marty.

Justin Hatchett, nursing a very tight back slid in at #6. As usual (and expected) the postman delivered our first point of the day.

Well done Justin on an amazing week of golf at TPS and then backing up for us on Sunday.

Trent Wheeler took a few holes to get going which is surprising as he was on course from sun up preparing. He battled hard as he always does but couldn’t keep pace away from home, another courageous effort mate.

A Big thanks to Brent Lambert for making himself available, Brent has been a beast for CHCC hence his call-up. He was playing their former #1 and team Captain Harry Waddington, Brent played some great golf but it wasn’t enough, going down 4/3

Brad Fasher seemed to be in control all day, all the work he put in preparing for TPS certainly paid off as he was golfing his ball beautifully, a little oil leak on the back side but he handled the closing holes well enough to secure our 2nd point. A big Green Tick for you FASH !! Bravo mate.

Pat Idquival has forced up the order this week and he didn’t disappoint, Seemingly in control on the front side, hitting fairways (not a typo), playing smart into the middle of greens and playing the man, not the course, again Pat came up against a club legend who is very strong at home, unfortunately going down on 18. Another great effort Panda, awe-inspiring play yesterday, Let’s hope you can pull out that Green Sharpie next week.

The story of the day for me was the brilliant fight, composure and sheer belief from our Lamb, Brendan Yap. He played well at reserve last week losing to a hole-out eagle on the 10th at Moore Park.

Again, due to the limited availability of players this week, we felt if there was anyone capable of shaking up their #1 it was Yappy. Unlucky for the putts not to fall when he needed them most. We all thank you for your commitment and contribution to the group, we loved watching your battle today and no doubt points are coming your way this season.

A tough start to our 2024 campaign playing our opening two rounds away from home and having 7 players unavailable this week.

Next week will be our chance to return to serve on Pymble. We have some major players coming back and we plan to dominate.

A big thank you to our Major Sponsors, Rate Money and Melrose Estate Partners.

See you all Sunday morning from 0700

Mark Scuglia – Team Manager.
