Relief from Aeration Holes

Relief from Aeration Holes
Following on from the course renovations, there will be evidence of aeration holes in the greens and closely mown areas.
Under the rules of golf there is no free relief from aeration holes made by grounds staff during course renovations. What this means is that should you ball roll into an aeration hole on the green or closely mown area you are not permitted to take free relief from this situation nor are you permitted to repair the aeration hole (see rule 13.1c) as you would a lob mark.
The Golf Committee have therefore decided to implement Model Local Rule E-4 from Friday, March 29th until Thursday, April 4th. Conditions will be reviewed during this period, but at this stage it is planned that from Friday, April 5th it will be play the ball as it lies in the general area and greens.
Model Local Rule E-4 Relief from Aeration Holes
If a players ball lies in or touches an aeration hole when on the putting green or the closely mown area the player may take free relief under rule 16.1d.
As always, please ensure you read the local rules board before playing.
New Flags and Flag Sticks
The Golf Committee have been reviewing the current flags and flag sticks. Many of the current flag sticks are damaged and need to be replaced and the flags have become faded.
Over Easter we will be trialling a new Yellow flag stick and Yellow flag. This will be placed on the 5th green.
The aim is to increase visibility of the flag as well as to provide premium flags and flag sticks in the future on all the greens.
Looking further ahead, the Club is considering moving to a single colour flag system on all greens.
A prism will be placed on the top of the flag stick.
