Castle Hill Country Club is one of Sydney’s leading private golf clubs and for many years has been recognised among the top 100 golf courses in Australia.
Boasting a world class par-72 championship golf course, Castle Hill Country Club is nestled among 167 acres of open fairways and picturesque bushland with extensive clubhouse amenities.
As a past host of major events including the Australian PGA Championship, NSW Open Golf Championship and Canon Challenge, the Castle Hill Country Club’s clubhouse coupled with the prestigious golf course ensures it is one of the premier venues in Australia.
History
| 1950 | The first official meeting of Castle Hill Country Club was held on 4th May. |
| 1951 | The property known as “Heywood” and the adjoining 214 acres were purchased on 28th February. A temporary 9 hole course was opened on Sunday, 21st October. |
| 1952 | The Club was officially opened on Sunday, 31st August. The first Club Professional was appointed, Mr Charlie Cowling. |
| 1956 | The first Castle Hill Country Club Spring Cup was held. |
| 1965 | Construction commenced on the 18th hole dam. |
| 1968 | The NSW PGA Championship was played at Castle Hill for the first time and was won by W E Dunk (Billy). |
| 1969 | The NSW PGA Championship was played at Castle Hill and was again won by W E Dunk (Billy). |
| 1970 | The NSW PGA Championship was played at Castle Hill for the third year and won for the third time by W E Dunk (Billy). |
| 1975 | 25 year Club Anniversary. |
| 1977 | Castle Hill wins the Eric Apperly Shield. |
| 1983 | Past President Jack Kerr’s foresight becomes reality with Castle Hill Country Club’s dam system connected to the water treatment plant on Wright’s Road. |
| 1985 | A memorable year for Castle Hill, winning the Eric Apperly Shield, the Metropolitan Pennant and the Senior Masters Pennant. The Australian PGA is held at Castle Hill and won by Greg Norman. |
| 1986 | The Australian PGA is held for a second year at Castle Hill and is won by Michael Harwood. David Ecob wins the Australian Amateur Championship. |
| 1987 | Castle Hill wins the Eric Apperly Shield. |
| 1990 | The new clubhouse is officially opened. Castle Hill wins the Eric Apperly Shield. |
| 1992 | The membership accepts the course “Master Plan” developed by Newton, Grant and Spencer. Castle Hill wins the ladies Silver Pennant. |
| 1993 | Castle Hill hosts the Canon Challenge won by Michael Campbell. Castle Hill wins the ladies Bronze II Pennant. Matthew Ecob wins the NSW Amateur Championship. |
| 1994 | Castle Hill hosts the Canon Challenge won by Peter Senior. Castle Hill wins the ladies Bronze II Pennant. |
| 1995 | Castle Hill wins the ladies No. 2 Grade. |
| 1996 | Associate members become full members of the club paying equal fees with the all rights and privileges of male members. |
| 1997 | Castle Hill wins the ladies Silver Pennant and Bronze I. |
| 1998 | Castle Hill wins the ladies Bronze II Pennant. |
| 1999 | Castle Hill wins the Eric Apperly Shield, the Group 2 Pennant and the ladies Silver Pennant. Brendan Jones wins the Australian Amateur Championship. |
| 2000 | Castle Hill hosts the Canon Challenge won by Paul Gow. |
| 2001 | Castle Hill hosts the Canon Challenge which is won by David Smail (NZ). Castle Hill wins the ladies Silver Pennant and Bronze II. |
| 2003 | A great year for ladies golf at Castle Hill with wins in Bronze II Pennant, Bronze I Salver and Bronze III Salver. |
| 2004 | Castle Hill wins the Metropolitan Major Pennant and the ladies Silver Pennant. |
| 2005 | Castle Hill wins the Senior Masters Pennant, Bronze I Salver and Bronze III Salver. |
| 2006 | The 5th green rebuild completes the Course Master Plan which began in 1992. Castle Hill wins ladies Bronze III. |
| 2007 | Castle Hill wins ladies Bronze II. |
| 2009 | Castle Hill wins ladies No. 3 Grade and Bronze III. |
| 2010 | Castle Hill Country Club’s 60th Anniversary. |
| 2011 | 60th Anniversary of the first competition round played at the club. |
| 2012 | Castle Hill wins ladies No. 2 Grade and Bronze II. |
| 2013 | Castle Hill Country Club named as Host Club for 2013 NSW Open, and successfully hosts the Gloria Jean’s Coffees 2013 NSW Open, despite trying weather conditions. Winning his first Professional title on home soil was Aron Price is the winner, and a new course record is set by Amateur Ben Eccles, with a 10 under par round of 62. | 2016 | Castle Hill wins the ladies Bronze III Pennant. Castle Hill hosts the Australian Faldo Series championship |
| 2017 | Castle Hill wins the ladies Bronze III Pennant. Castle Hill hosts the Australian Faldo Series championship |
| 2018 | Castle Hill hosts the Volkswagen Scramble Members approve the ‘Golf course Improvement plan” to upgrade 18 holes and add three spare greens. |
| 2019 | Castle Hill hosts the Volkswagen Scramble. Castle Hill hosts the Australian Faldo Series championship. Castle Hill hosts the NSW PGA Seniors championship. Course Improvement plan completed for $5m . Castle Hill hosts NSW Legends Pro/Am Championship over two days |
| 2020 | March 23rd 2020 COVID-19 hit Australia Castle Hill won the 2020 Super Senior Pennant, as we expected it was a great battle between two very strong clubs. A tremendous battle at The Lakes GC. Castle Hill were the victors 5.5 to 2.5 |
| 2022 | Castle Hill hosts the 2022 NSW PGA Seniors Championship. The 2022 NSW PGA Seniors Champion was Adam Revai. |
| 2023 | Castle Hill hosts the 2023 Mulpha Legends Pro Am. The 2023 Mulpha Legends Pro-Am winner was Terry Price, with a fine score of -2. The Clubhouse undergoes Major refurbishment, including the main members bar, outdoor balcony, carpets, stairwell, fireplace and painting. The project is completed with new internal and external furniture. The Club sold an adjoining parcel of land to the Hills Shire Council to assist investment in key assets of the Club. |
